Historic Hotels Belgium brings together Hotel Gravensteen, Ghent River Hotel, Monasterium Poortackere and Hotel de Flandre in Ghent, Tower Hotel Aalst in Aalst and Stay @ Brussels in Brussels (each "the Hotel").
Scope
These terms apply to every use of this website and to every reservation made through it, by email or by telephone with Historic Hotels Belgium or one of the Hotels. By making a reservation, you accept these terms. Specific conditions shown for a rate, package, group booking or event take precedence over these general terms where they differ.
Use of the website
We take care to keep all information on this website accurate and up to date. Photos, room descriptions and facilities are indicative; small differences between rooms of the same category are possible. Obvious errors or typing mistakes in prices or descriptions do not bind us.
Reservations
- Online reservations are processed through our booking engine, provided by Cubilis or Mikros. The contract for your stay is concluded with the Hotel you book.
- A reservation is final once you receive a written confirmation by email. Please check it carefully and report any errors immediately.
- The person making the reservation must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for all guests in the reservation.
- As a hotel reservation concerns accommodation on a specific date, there is no statutory right of withdrawal (Belgian Code of Economic Law, article VI.53, 12°). Cancellation is possible under the conditions in article 7.
Rates
- Rates are per room or per person, per night, as shown at the time of booking, in euros and including VAT.
- City tax is not included and is payable at the Hotel, unless stated otherwise.
- Direct booking discounts and promotional rates apply only to reservations made through this website and only under the conditions shown with that offer.
- Rates for extra services (breakfast, parking, extra bed, late check-out) are those in force at the time of your stay, unless included in your booked rate.
Payment and guarantee
- A valid credit card is required to guarantee your reservation. The Hotel may pre-authorise the card before arrival.
- Prepaid and non-refundable rates are charged in full at the time of booking or on the date stated in the rate conditions.
- All other costs are payable no later than check-out.
Cancellation, changes and no-show
- The cancellation conditions of your booked rate apply. You will find them in the booking engine and in your confirmation.
- Unless your rate states otherwise: free cancellation up to 48 hours before the day of arrival. After that, or in case of a no-show, the first night is charged.
- Non-refundable rates cannot be cancelled, changed or refunded.
- Early departure: the remaining booked nights may be charged.
- Please send cancellations and changes in writing to reservations@historichotelsbelgium.com or to the Hotel directly. A change is only final once confirmed by us.
Groups, corporate rates, meetings and events
Reservations of 9 rooms or more, corporate rate agreements, meetings and events are subject to a separate quotation and separate conditions. These apply in addition to these terms and take precedence where they differ.
Your stay
- Check-in from 15:00, check-out until 11:00. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability and may be charged.
- Under Belgian law, every guest must show a valid identity document at check-in.
- All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking in a room leads to a cleaning charge of €250.
- Pets: not allowed.
- The number of guests per room may not exceed the number booked.
- You are liable for damage caused by you or your fellow guests.
- The Hotel may end a stay without refund in case of serious nuisance, unsafe behaviour or breach of these house rules.
Parking
Most Hotels offer parking on site in the city centre, subject to availability and charges. Ghent River Hotel has no own parking; the public Vrijdagmarkt car park is about 100 metres away. Parking is at your own risk.
Liability
- The Hotel's liability for guests' belongings is governed by Belgian law and limited to the amounts set out there. Please store valuables in the room safe or at reception.
- We are not liable for indirect damage, nor for items left in vehicles.
- We are not liable for the content or availability of third-party websites linked from this website, including booking, payment and social media platforms.
Force majeure
If the Hotel cannot provide the booked service due to circumstances beyond its control, it will offer comparable alternative accommodation where possible or refund amounts paid for services not provided. No further compensation applies.
Intellectual property
All texts, photos, logos and designs on this website belong to Historic Hotels Belgium or its licensors. Use without prior written permission is not allowed.
Privacy
We process your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy.
Complaints
Please report complaints during your stay at reception, so the Hotel can solve them straight away. Afterwards, send your complaint in writing to reservations@historichotelsbelgium.com within 14 days of departure. We reply within 14 days. Consumers can also contact the Belgian Consumer Mediation Service (consumentenombudsdienst.be).
Applicable law and disputes
These terms are governed by Belgian law. Disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ghent, without prejudice to the mandatory rules that protect consumers.
Changes and language
We may update these terms. The version published at the time of your reservation applies. These terms are available in Dutch, English and French. In case of differences, the Dutch version prevails.
